How Much Is Liposuction Of The Lower Stomach

Will The Fat Cells Grow Back After Liposuction

Liposuction Abdomen – Recovery

Liposuction removes fat cells permanently. The fat cells that are removed by liposuction can never come back, however, if the patient gains a significant amount of weight, then new fat cell can develop. With a small weight gain, existing fat cells simply get bigger by accumulating more fat within the existing cell. However, with an increase of more than 10% of body weight, one can expect new fat cell development in all areas of the body, including areas previously treated by liposuction. As an adult gains larger amounts of weight, increasing numbers of fat cells are formed from existing pleuripotential connective tissue cells by a process of differentiation. Existing connective tissue cells first change into immature fat cells

, and then develop into mature fat cells with progressive obesity.

How Much Does It Cost To Get Liposuction On Your Stomach

Liposuction is one of the most popular procedures used to remove fat from the body. Its a surgical procedure that involves the extraction of fatty tissue using a narrow suction tool called a cannula. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the procedure usually takes an hour or two, followed by a few days of recovery.

Liposuction is popular because it rids a person of stubborn fat pockets that may have been unresponsive to diet and exercise. However, its worth noting that liposuction isnt a weight loss surgery, and theres a limit to the amount of fat cells that can be safely extracted. Its ideal for patients who are already close to their ideal weight.

Liposuction can be performed on various parts of the body, including the breasts, thighs, back and waist. However, most patients opt for liposuction on the stomach to achieve a slender and narrow waistline. One of the most frequent questions people have with liposuction is the cost involved. This article provides accurate information on the cost of liposuction on the stomach.

Liposuction Cost On The Abdomen

In the US, the approximate cost of liposuction on the upper and lower abdomen ranges from $3,800 on the low end, to $8,000 on the high end, and the cost of liposuction on the lower abdomen ranges from $2,500 to $7,500. As the cost of liposuction varies based on the size of the treatment area and how much tissue is to be removed, as well as on the experience and expertise of the performing surgeon, the best way to get an exact cost for your procedure is to visit the office for a personal consultation. Virtual consultations can also be done for a very close ballpark cost estimate.

Patients are recommended to start light walking as soon as they feel comfortable during their liposuction recovery, typically within the first few days of surgery. Doing so can help facilitate the healing process. You can continue to increase your activity over the first two weeks, unless you are instructed otherwise. Strenuous exercise, however, should be avoided for at least a month to allow your body enough time to heal. Resuming exercise too early can lead to additional swelling or cause complications with your incisions.

Weight Loss And Weight Maintenance

MyShape Lipo – Female, Abdominal Liposuction Procedure, Large Volume Liposuction

Your health insurance provider may come to the conclusion that your tummy tuck is medically necessary if you have undergone a bariatric procedure and you have a significant amount of excess skin. This excess skin can get in the way of your legs while you are exercising, cause you pain, and prevent you from losing more weight or maintaining your current weight.

Since bariatric procedures are usually only for individuals who are suffering from a weight-related illness, theres a good chance your health insurance provider will want you to be as successful as possible on your weight loss journey. If you gain the weight back, you will get sick again and lose your quality of life.

How Is Liposuction Performed

Liposuction is a safe, effective option for spot-reducing and eliminating stubborn pockets of exercise-resistant fat. At Houston Liposuction Center, SmartLipo, Vaser Lipo, and Tumescent Liposuction techniques are available for reducing fat from the abdomen.

Liposuction treatments are performed on an outpatient basis and typically range from one to two hours in treatment time. The modern techniques used make it possible for patients to remain awake and comfortable during the entire treatment. Patients are back on their feet and able to return home as soon as the treatment is complete. The procedure requires 1 to 2 mm incisions near the treatment site to enable a specialized tool called a cannula to suction fat from the body.

After treatment, mild swelling and bruising is common, but are managed with pain medication and compression garments.

What Are The Different Parts Of A Liposuction Quote

Those are the factors that are going to largely determine the cost of your liposuction procedure. And now to kind of get into the nitty gritty of how much your liposuction procedure is going to cost. We have to also understand that there are a few different parts of any quote for a liposuction procedure, and those are essentially the surgeons fee, the fee for anesthesia and the fee for the operating room, or whats sometimes called the facility fee. And to keep things simple in terms of the anesthesia fee and the facility fee, its going to be safe to assume that thats going to cost anywhere from about $500 to a few thousand dollars. If youre having that performed in a private surgical center, again, as influenced by the various factors that we were discussing earlier.

In terms of the surgeons fee, Im really going to speak from personal experience here. My practice is a New York City based plastic surgery practice on the upper East Side of Manhattan, where things do tend to be pricier. And in my market, for the first area of liposuction, with reputable people, youre generally going to be paying somewhere between 3 and $6,000 for that first area. And then each additional area generally goes down by about a thousand dollars until it levels off somewhere at 2 to $3,000 per additional area.

Liposuction Vs Weight Loss Surgery

Lower Abdomen Liposuction With Smartlipo Triplex ...

Although liposuction provides effective fat removal results, it is not intended as a weight loss procedure. Liposuction is designed to treat localized areas of excess fat that do not seem to improve with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Candidates for liposuction should be at or near their goal weight. Patients who struggle with their weight may need to adopt a healthier lifestyle before they can be considered for liposuction. Those suffering from obesity, with a body mass index of around 35, may benefit more from bariatric surgery. During your consultation, your surgeon will perform a physical exam and go over your medical history to determine if liposuction is the best solution for your fat removal goals.

  • Abdomen : 2 to 2.5 pounds of fat
  • Flanks : 1.5 to 2 pounds of fat
  • Back: 1 to 1.5 pounds of fat
  • Inner Thighs: 2 to 3 pounds of fat
  • Outer Thighs: 1 to 1.5 pounds of fat
  • Upper Arms: 0.5 to 1 pound of fat
  • Chin: around 0.5 to 1 pound of fat

How Does Liposuction Work

Liposuction is performed to target fat deposits from different parts of the body using a suction technique. It works by breaking up fats and suctioning them through a device called a cannula.

During the procedure, the patient is put under general anesthesia and or given a sedative to feel calm and relaxed throughout the treatment. A combination of three medications is then injected into the target area which will break up the fat cells. Ultrasound or laser may also be used to aid in this process.

The surgeon will then make a small incision to insert the cannula or the suction tube into the fat pockets to remove the fats.

What Happens During The Consultation

It is during your initial consultation that you will have the opportunity to discuss your cosmetic goals with your surgeon. Dr. Okoro can then evaluate you as a candidate for liposuction and make it clear what the procedure can and cannot do for you. Once your goals and medical condition are understood, your surgeon will be able to give you an accurate cost for your procedure.

During your consultation, you may be asked to point to the part of your body you want to see improved. Your surgeon may take pictures of you, including 3D photos, particularly if the target treatment areas are located on the rear side of your body. Doing so helps your surgeon understand your expectations and determine if liposuction is the procedure to achieve them.

Ideal candidates possess excellent skin tone/tissue elasticity with isolated areas of excess fat. Your surgeon will evaluate your skin and discuss with you your ideal and current weight. If weight loss is necessary, they will probably suggest a weight loss program before surgery.

What Stomach Liposuction Does

MyShape Lipo – Male Abdominal Liposuction, Over coming Anxiety

Aging brings on a general redistribution of body fat, especially around the middle. For women, childbirth can leave behind a roll of stubborn and unsightly belly fat. And, of course, genetics count for a lot, too. But when it comes to liposuction, not all fat is created equal. Fat that’s resistant to diet and exercise is usually subcutaneous fat, which lies beneath the skin and on top of the abdominal muscle wall. The good news is that’s what liposuction is intended to remove. Liposuction can remove pockets of flab, recontour your middle and improve your shape.

What Is A Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess, stretched or sagging skin from the abdomen to restore a flatter, and tighter abdominal area. A tummy tuck is also highly capable of repairing weakened or stretched abdominal muscles.

In many cases, when were talking about the stomach and abdominal area, there is also the issue of excess, sagging skin. Pregnancy, aging, and large amounts of weight loss can result in sagging, stretched flaps of skin around the stomach. In these cases, liposuction may not be the best treatment because the excess skin is better addressed through treatments such as a tummy tuck.

Am I A Good Candidate

Youll want to have realistic expectations. Liposuction wont get rid of cellulite, so if you hoped youd come out of surgery without any, youre out of luck.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure, and with it comes risks. So you need to be in good health before you get it. That means you must at least:

  • Be within 30% of your ideal weight
  • Have firm, elastic skin
  • Not smoke

Doctors dont recommend the procedure if you have health problems with blood flow or have heart disease, diabetes, or a weak immune system.

Who Is A Good Candidate For Liposuction

Before and After Liposuction Photos

A good candidate for liposuction is someone who is in good health and who has one or more areas of localized accumulation of fatty tissue. Ideally, a good candidate has realistic expectations about what the procedure can accomplish. Some of Dr. Dickies most satisfied patients have been individuals with a high BMI because they expected improvement, not perfection. There isnt an age limit for people undergoing liposuction.

Liposuction Vs Tummy Tuck

Liposuction and tummy tuck surgery are both popular and effective body contouring techniques to shape the abdominal region for a slimmer, more sculpted physique. While they are often performed in combination with each other to achieve the utmost rejuvenation, liposuction and abdominoplasty address different concerns as lone procedures. Liposuction is solely designed for fat removal in regions of the body prone to the accumulation of fatty deposits, such as the abdomen, arms, thighs, flanks, and hips. Since the procedure does not address excess skin, many patients with poor skin elasticity opt to combine their liposuction with a tummy tuck. Also referred to as abdominoplasty, tummy tuck surgery can not only remove redundant fat, but the procedure is also intended to tighten loose skin as well as separated abdominal muscles. This can improve the look of a hanging or protruding abdomen, and is a treatment plan commonly pursued by individuals who have undergone pregnancy or massive weight loss. If you are unsure whether you would benefit most from liposuction, tummy tuck surgery, or both methods of body sculpting, Dr. Leber can make a recommendation after assessing your concerns in a consultation.

Who Is A Candidate For Liposuction

While liposuction can sculpt the body for a more defined figure, this is not a procedure intended for weight loss. The best candidates for surgery are at or near their ideal weight, with localized areas of fat accumulation. The most successful results often come from patients with good skin elasticitythis means that the skin has the ability to contract and tighten once excess fat has been removed. Other considerations for liposuction may include:

  • You are in relatively good health to undergo surgery
  • You have no medical conditions that may jeopardize a successful healing process
  • You have minimal scarring and stretch marks in the treated areas
  • You have a body mass index that is less than 35

These factors can all affect an optimal procedural outcome. During a consultation, Dr. Leber will review your medical history, ask about your desires and expectations for surgery, and examine your skin tissue anatomy to assess whether liposuction can fulfill your goals. For individuals with poor skin elasticity and lax musculature in their abdominal region in addition to excess fat, a liposuction combined with a tummy tuck procedure may be more ideal to simultaneously remove excess fat and tighten sagging skin and muscles. This combination surgery can also achieve beautiful results for a leaner and more youthful body appearance.

How Can I Tighten Loose Skin After Liposuction

Immediately after liposuction, you may notice your skin is slightly loose in the treated area. This should gradually tighten over approximately 6 to 12 months, assuming you have good skin elasticity. If you present with excess skin during the initial consultation, your surgeon may recommend a tummy tuck be performed in conjunction with your liposuction. Non-surgical treatment options are also available to help tighten mild skin looseness after surgery.
