Having a barium swallow and X-ray is another way to look for changes in the stomach lining. It is not as accurate as an endoscopy.

Chronic or untreated gastritis may lead to bleeding in the stomach, ulcers that can perforate and cause infection in the abdomen, and nausea and vomiting caused by obstructions. Eating smaller meals throughout the day, rather than three big meals, can minimize the production of stomach acid.
