How To Hide Your Stomach In Pictures

Dresses That Hide Belly Bulge Choose Dresses That Dont Cling And/or Have A Draping Element

7 effective POSING IDEAS to HIDE STOMACH FAT in photos/ LOOK THINNER HACKS

Make sure that your dresses donât cling around the tummy area. Dresses with a draping element around the tummy area often work.

Asymmetrical dresses work well too as they draw attention away from the belly and create a vertical line.

Dresses that donât cling and which also have patterns are also great to hide the tummy area.

The dress below is draped just right to draw attention away from the belly and creating flattering vertical lines.

If you add a statement necklace at the top, you will further distract the eye from the belly area as the eye will be drawn upwards.

Think About Where Your Sleeves End

When you are thinking about hiding a tummy, you are probably focused on whether your top or dress drapes over your belly area or whether it clings.

However, donât forget about your sleeves. If your sleeves end right at the point where your belly is at its widest, you will only draw attention to this area.

Look instead for sleeves which end above your belly or below at your hips. The right sleeve length for you will depend on your arm length and where your belly is biggest.

Avoid Body Con Silhouette

If you have a belly, you should avoid a body con silhouette from top to bottom. In other words, if your top is tight, avoid wearing it with a tight bottom.

If you wear a tight top with a skinny bottom, your tummy will look much more obvious.

Instead, if your top is tight, wear a looser fit skirt or pants to camouflage your belly, and vice versa.

Hiding A Baby Bump In Photos:

  • Pick your angle. Facing straight on to the camera is the best way to reduce or disguise the size of a baby bump.
  • Take photos as early in the day as possible. The more you eat, the bigger your belly gets, especially in the early stages.
  • Accessorise. Same as above, you can hide a bump with clever layering, a scarf, or even just hiding behind a handbag!
  • Never tuck any tops in. A half tuck hides a little bump quite well, but firmly tucking a top into a skirt or pair of pants just highlights a baby belly.
  • Avoid clingy fabrics. You want things that skim over your bump.
  • If you have a photographer, get their feedback. If you have a professional photographer, or just someone helping you with photos, ask them for the best angles / views to disguise a baby belly as they are shooting.
  • Change your pose. It feels extremely silly, but I found this works well if youre standing straight on to the camera. Not so much if youre standing at an angle! Stand up straight, and push your butt back a bit, letting anything youre wearing fall in a straighter line over the baby belly. Perfect if youre wearing looser clothing, it will skim rather than hug your frame.
  • Sit down. Its much easier to hide a bump when youre sitting instead of standing.
  • Practice. Take a few more photos than you usually would to make sure youre getting the photos you want, showcasing your great outfit and not the baby belly you arent ready to spill the beans about yet!

Layering For Any Season Use A Long Cardigan Or A Short Jacket

How to hide your belly with fabulous clothes

Creating vertical lines with cardigans works really well, but you can also wear shorter jackets to hide a tummy.

If you pop a biker jacket over a longer top, you confuse the eye so that the different hem lengths hide your belly.

Layers are definitely your friend when it comes to hiding a belly.

The longer your cardigan, the longer and leaner you will appear, although you usually donât want to go longer than 2/3 from the height of your shoulders to the bottom.

Short straight cardigans will hide your belly too, but will have an overall more boxy silhouette so you need to be more careful when styling these.

Belly Fat Can Make You Look Awkward Even In The Best Of Clothes Here Are 10 Expert Tips On How To Dress To Hide It And Look Fab And Fit

HT Correspondent

Dressing for your body shape is very important to look good. But if a bulging tummy or belly fat is turning out to be a problem, there are ways to dress that can help you hide it. Bhavya Chawla, chief stylist at Voonik and fashion designer Reynu Taandon list ways to hide your tummy fat:

* Wear dark colours or busy prints on your upper body. This will help you look slim and hide your tummy fat.

* Avoid wearing shiny and bright colours on your upper body.

* Avoid wearing too tight or too loose cloths on your upper body. Too tight cloths will highlight your tummy even more, and your body looks shapeless if you wear too loose cloths. So, try to wear medium-fit cloths.

* Go for mid-rise when it comes to jeans, pants, shalwars or skirts. Wear them around your navel. This will help in concealing the tummy.

* If you are wearing tops, then body suits are the best option for you. This gives you a sleek look.

* Girls tend to buy clothes a size smaller thinking that it will make them look slimmer. On the contrary, this highlights your tummy and makes you feel uncomfortable. Therefore, the size of your body shaper should be one size larger.

* While buying undergarments, make sure you buy mid-rise panties. Avoid low or high-rise.

* Choose high slits while opting for kurtis. This helps in concealing the tummy.

* With make-up as well as big earrings and neck pieces, you can attract the attention of others to your face and people wont notice your tummy fat.

Wear Empire Waist Carefully

I want to recommend empire waist to curvy women, but, I suggest using this one with caution.

Normally, stylists suggest you wear this to hide your belly. Its not that it doesnt do the job, but it oftentimes gives you that pregnant look if you know what I mean.

Not all empire waist dresses or tops are designed equally. There are some that are not so exaggerated as to remind someone of a maternal dress.

Try on as many as possible to find the design with a modest design that hides your belly strategically without giving that pregnant look, like this Empire Waist Midi Dress .

How To Disguise A Belly In The Summer: 5 Steps To Feeling More Confident And Looking Your Best

A reader reached out asking how to disguise a belly in the summer. Below I share her email as well as tips on how to disguise a belly in the summer with what you wear and how to style outfits to not make ones stomach take the spotlight.

I have a large stomach that can easily pass for being seven or more months pregnant if I let it hang out and do not camouflage. Wearing A-line garments is tricky because I inevitably get asked if Im pregnant.

My uniform is slacks, a fitted tee or shirt, and a sweater or jacket, but you can see how this becomes tricky in the summer heat. Also, to accommodate my stomach, my pants often end up baggy in the rear . I want pants that fit but dont call attention to my stomach, arent saggy in the bottom, and that is classic or on trend. My preferred style is classic and polished.

Now Lets Dress The Top Half:

As for tops, steer clear from trapeze or a-line tops like you mentioned, as well as anything with an empire waistline . Those are stereotypically found in maternity fashion. Instead, you want something fitted, or that is gathered to create the effect of a waist at or below your natural waistline.

Surplice or faux wrap style tops and wrap dresses are great for this. Also, dont be afraid of tops that have a gently elasticized waist or a self-belt at the waist. Instead of adding bulk, it will help create the effect of an hourglass shape.

An example of tops that create the effect of a waist. Shop these tops below:

Tops that hide a midsection with optical illusions

The dress over pants look is back in style . Consider longer tops or shorter dresses in lightweight fabrics over slim but structured pants or longer shorts for a very chic and modern look.

How Do You Not Look Fat In Pictures

  • Watch your posture.
  • Stand at an angle, put one leg in front of the other.
  • Lean away from the camera.
  • Dont put arms flat against your body.
  • Bend your limbs.
  • Tuck your legs when sitting down.
  • What clothes make you look slimmer?

Darker colours will make you look instantly slimmer, whilst lighter or shiny colours/fabrics will highlight problem areas. So, if you have a wider waist, wear a brown or black belt.

Why do you look better in the mirror than in pictures?

This is because the reflection you see every day in the mirror is the one you perceive to be original and hence a better-looking version of yourself. So, when you look at a photo of yourself, your face seems to be the wrong way as it is reversed than how you are used to seeing it.

Why do I look awful in pictures?

The most common cause of camera distortion is that the subject is too close to the lens. Most photographers say that the type of lens used also has a lot to do with it, and wide-angle lenses are big offenders.

Which is more accurate mirror or camera?

When you look in a mirror, you see a mirror image of yourself. What everyone else sees when they look at you in person, is the opposite, i.e. right and left flipped. Therefore on that basis, a picture taken by a camera is a more accurate representation of what people see when they look at you.

How do you look good in a picture sitting down?

  • Lean on a table pose.
  • Lean back with legs crossed pose.
  • Knees away from the camera.
  • Lean back with one arm on the side pose.
  • Create 3 Columns Of Colors

    How to Hide Your Tummy

This is genius stylist hack for you to hide that tummy effortlessly!

The first step is to make sure your under layer forms one column of color, i.e. you should pair a darker color top with a darker color jeans or pants .

Black is known for slimming effect. but your underlayer does not have to be black. It can be any darker color you like such as navy, grey, brown etc.

The next step is where the magic happens- top it over with a lighter color outer layer, it can be a jacket, a cardigan or a coat.

It is critical to wear it open front, so that the lighter jacket and your dark under layer forms 3 columns of colors in the front to divide up your tummy. This is how you can instantly disguise your belly!

    Deemphasize Parts Of The Body

The first rule in posing to know is anything that is closer to the camera is going to look bigger and anything further away is going to look smaller, Goodrich says. This really comes in handy where you have people with bodies where there are parts, they want to emphasize versus deemphasize. So put any part that you want to deemphasize further away from the camera.

Let’s Start With The Bottom Half: Pants Jeans And Shorts

Oh pants, they can be such a pain when you have curves. But theyâre so versatile and easy to style, and so perfect for so many occasions. When it comes to really great pants in plus size that look classic and polished, I have to recommend the Kady pant from ELOQUII.

Itâs made of this thick, tightly-knit doubleweave stretch fabric that looks professional yet can dress down. The fabric is made that it holds its shape, no saggy bum or diaper effect after a day sitting at your desk. Theyâre an ankle length, which is also flattering and perfect to pair with summer shoes.

The three fits of the ELOQUII Kady’ Pant

They come in three lengths as well as three fits their Gena fit is for those who have a fuller midsection and smaller hips and thighs. their Viola fit is for those who have hips that are one to two sizes larger than their bust, and their Regular fit is for those with hips and bust proportional and a defined waistline.

If ELOQUII doesn’t fit your body well , check out Universal Standard. Offering sizes 00-40 with several pant styles in petite and tall and hundreds of customer reviews, you may find exactly the right pants to fit your frame.

How Can You Ease Discomfort Caused By An Apron Belly

Often, the pain and discomfort of an apron belly come in the form of the emotions it may make you feel. For many people, their apron belly can be a source of shame or stress. Its important to realize that you are not alone!

Many people of all shapes and sizes may develop an apron belly. While its important to care for underlying causes that affect your overall health, try to let go of any guilt or shame you feel about your belly.

If your apron belly is causing you physical discomfort, there are many things that you can try to help feel your best:

    • Apply anti-chafing creams. The skin on the underside of an apron belly can rub or chafe. Using an anti-chafing cream can help prevent skin irritation and the discomfort that can follow.
    • Use support bands or clothing. Using a support band or clothing designed to support the abdominal area can help conceal an apron belly. It can also help prevent additional skin sagging and alleviate back problems from carrying extra weight in the front of the body.
    • Keep the area clean and dry. Maintaining good hygiene helps prevent rashes and other skin issues. Given that the skin under an apron belly is particularly apt to rub and trap moisture and heat, it can be especially susceptible to rashes and irritations.
