Should I Shave My Chest And Stomach Hair

Tools Youll Need To Trim Chest And Stomach Hair

Should Men shave their chest hair

According to the study I mentioned before, researchers discovered that the most common tools for manscaping were as follows:

  • Scissors
  • Electric hair clippers
  • Plucking INSANE!

Now, this is interesting, because this tells me that most guys dont know how to trim their chest and stomach hair properly, or theyre skimping out on investing in the right tools.

Im going to break each of these methods down and give my opinion on each grooming tool, and give my take on which ones are best for manscaping the torso.

The Right Tools For The Job

Just like many jobs you might do, be it fixing things around the house or on your car, or doing a personal care job such as dealing with your stomach and chest hair, using the right tools will make things easier and the results better.

The most popular ways to trim chest and stomach hair are:

Electric Body Groomer

Unless you really want to shave completely, in my opinion, these are the best tools to use. You can either use them without any attachments and get a really close trim or use the comb attachments. These normally come in different lengths so that you can adjust how close the trim is.

As already mentioned above, my two favorites for this kind of job are the Manscaped Lawn Mower 2 and the Philips Norelco Bodygroom 3100. You can read my full reviews of the top 5 body groomers under $50 to find out more.

Scissors

Although I find it hard to believe that men would use scissors in this day and age but apparently they do.

Using scissors would take me hours to trim my chest and stomach hair and there is no way I would get such a good result as I do with my bodygroomers.

Perhaps some people are just very tight when it comes to spending money on something that will do the job properly.

Electric hair clippers

These are what you, or your barber, might use to trim the hair on your head. I have used these in the past and they do pretty good job if you dont want to close a trim.

They are perhaps better if you just want to tidy your body hair up.

Electric shaver

Wet razor

Waxing

Should I Shave My Chest And Stomach

When it comes to shaving your chest and stomach, the decision is entirely on you. For a majority of men, a majority of our grooming habits are driven by what the women in our lives think.

With that in mind, you need to know that there are women who prefer a clean-shaven chest while others want the all-natural experience. If your woman falls in the first category, then by all means, go ahead and shave your chest.

If your woman doesnt mind chest hair, ensure that its not too thick that you end up looking like a teen wolf. If they want your chest all-natural, trim to the desired length at least.

This decision is also influenced by your body type and how fit you are. If you are putting in the effort in the gym and have a body to show for it, then there is no reason why you should hide that under a mountain of hair.

If you have added a few pounds, however, you are better off sticking with chest and stomach hair as shaving can end up accentuating your flows and making you look like you have man boobs.

If you also have tattoos, then you may want to shave your stomach and chest so that they are visible. All in all, it all comes down to you and what you prefer.

Stubble that Causes Itchiness

You may think that you are removing completely chest hairs by shaving with a sharp razor. Actually, this is not possible, there will be tiny fragments that remain that will sprout from your chest in just a few days. When stubble appears, you will experience itchiness since your shirt will be rubbing against this area constantly. I guess that you were to go shirtless for a few days that you could by-pass this stubbly period, but that is not a practical option for 99 percent of the population.

How Often Should I Shave My Chest

Nope, not at all.

You spend a lot of time and effort on taking care of yourself. It is one thing that you spend a lot of effort to control in your life. One thing that you cannot control is your genetics and where God blessed you with body hair.

If you really want to complete the look, then it is imperative that you also go along with the last bit of effort to get a clean look. Will My Chest Hair Grow Back Thicker If I Shave It

While a lot of people believe that shaving causes hair to grow back thicker, this is nothing but a myth. Shaving does not in any way cause hair strands to grow back thicker.

Likewise, shaving as a method of hair removal doesnt create greater hair growth as most people assume. As such, shaving your chest will not transform you into a mammoth when the hair starts growing back.

Since our estrogen levels drop as we reach middle to later age, body hair growth corresponds by becoming sparser and thinner, too. In fact, most people will see a significant slow down in the production of leg and arm hair. And it turns out that body hair can go gray just like the hair on your head.

Shaving Between Your Cheeks

You may be a man who doesnt consider the job complete after shaving his butt cheeks. If so, then youve probably considered shaving between the cheeks, or already have.

Lets cut to the chasetrimming between your cheeks isnt a job for the faint of heart. Or, at the least, a job for anyone who doesnt have a steady hand. Its not unlike shaving around your pubic regions, especially around your scrotum.

But, like sending a man to the moon, it can be done.

Step one is to invest in a good mirror. Youll preferably want to squat over that mirror to see exactly what youre doing when trimming the furthest of nether regions. Squatting helps to open things up, so to speak, without requiring you to use your free hand to pull your cheeks apart.

Apply some shaving gel to the area and, whatever you do, use a blade that has a guard on it.

No, we dont recommend using an old-fashioned straight razor for this job, unless you love to engage in high-risk activities, or consider yourself a masochist. Its a good idea to begin with the outer edges of your butt crack and work your way to the anus. Youll have a better sense of how comfortably you can squat, the type of strokes you can take and the speed by which you shave.

Again, you dontneed excessive pressure to shave this most sensitive area of your body. Too much pressure will bite you in the ass, literally.

No shaving hair doesnt change its thickness, color or rate of growth. Shaving facial or body hair gives the hair a blunt tip. The tip might feel coarse or stubbly for a time as it grows out. During this phase, the hair might be more noticeable and perhaps appear darker or thicker but its not.

Do Ladies Like Chest Hair

Manscaping: Should Men Shave their Stomach Hair?

As mentioned earlier, almost every grooming task a man does is geared towards pleasing women. As such, this is one of the most common questions when it comes to male grooming.

Chest hair in prehistoric times was used for protection against cold and harmful insects. With better shelters and products such as bug spray all that was rendered useless.

Men nowadays keep chest hair for masculinity purposes. But the question is whether ladies are into men who have a bush on their chest.

The answer is yes and no. Just like some women like beards while others prefer a clean-shaven face, its the same when it comes to chest hair.

In a survey conducted that involved 105 women, 73% of them said that they prefer chest hair while 27% prefer a hairless man. However, even when a majority seems to dig chest hair, most of them prefer just a little hair rather than you looking like a hairy mammoth.

Its not every man out there who can grow chest hair. Some are as hairless as the day they were born. However, the greatest debate has always been whether men should have chest hair or shave it off completely.

What it all comes down to is a matter of personal preferences and what your love interest thinks. Some women dig a hairy man while others want a clean-shaven chest.

Whatever you decide, chest hair on a man is acceptable and its nothing to beat yourself about!

Is Chest Hair Attractive

Well attraction is in the eye of the beholder really.

Many women find men with chest hair attractive but it is all just a matter of taste. Just like some find men with blonde hair and blue eyes attractive or tall and slim men or whatever.

Equally many women find chest hair, and any body hair for that matter, a big turn off.

I have known women who liked to run their hands through my chest hair and others that have urged me to shave it off.

Do Most Guys Shave Their Chest Hair

Well, I would say no. Because every man in my immediate family doesnt. I mean they know they have a hairy chest. When whenever we meet up every summer or winter at someplace warm, its nothing but hairy chest. I think the reason the chest might be skipped over in the hair grooming process is that the chest isnt open to view.

Guys with chest hair or should I say with hair period mostly care more for facial hair. Or even their pubic hairs as a result of their significant other. Then I started working in the fashion industry. I found that a lot of men would shave their chest. Mostly for the jobs they were doing. Men who play certain sports will have to shave. Sometimes its a requirement of the sport they play.

Some shave their chest especially in the summertime to get a release from the heat. See the extra layer of hair can add a layer of heat. This will make you feel uncomfortable. And also, some may be in the gym pumping iron and shave to show off the great detail in the chest and stomach muscles.

So, it all comes down to the mans own preferences. Does he like to groom his chest or not? Does his spouse like a shaved chest? Its a 50-50 type of thing. Some do, some dont.

More Than Just Chest And Abdomen Hair

BODY HAIR!!! HOW TO GUIDE (Waxing? Shaving? Exfoliating? Chest Stomach)|TR3

Body hair removal should cover more than just your chest and stomach hair. Youll want to trim down your armpit hair slightly with a long guard comb to neaten things up.

Remove any hair from your upper arms, shoulders, and back. Consider trimming down your forearm hair using a 10mm guard comb.

You dont want abrupt or bold lines where your body is clean shaven and joins other hair growth.

For example, can you imagine shaving off all of your chest hair and leaving your hairy belly untouched?

Or how about you shave all of your chest and back hair off and leave bushy hair all over your shoulders.

That would look pretty ridiculous, right?

What I like to do is trim off my chest hair first, working my way from the neck down .

Then Ill trim all of my stomach hairs, stopping at my pubic hair.

Next, shoulders, upper arms and back get trimmed completely.

Finally, Ill use a 10mm guard comb and trim down some of my pubic hair and forearm hair, this means that the areas where hair remains are thinned down, leaving my upper body almost, but not entirely hairless, to maintain some masculine features.

Always trim against the grain of hair growth, this allows the hairs to slide into the clipper or trimmer teeth for even cutting.

So there you have it, a scientific reason you should shave your chest and stomach hair. Complete with the recommended tools and direction you need to look and feel more attractive.

  • Ive tried it and it does reduce the appearance of the razor bumps.

  • Put it on the razor bumps. Grab a washrag/cloth heat it up and place it over the affected area for 10-15 minutes. This can help destroy some of the germs and bacteria that can make the razor bumps worse.
