Am I Eating The Right Pre
There is a fine line between eating recently enough to have steady energy for a workout and being too full. You can’t have eaten too much and get a great scoop on the abs.
What should you eat before Pilates? The shortest answer is that many people depend on a small snack to fuel their workout, something with a little protein, healthy fat, or complex carbohydrate, like a handful of nuts or a protein smoothies. But you don’t want to consume more energy than you need.
Of course, you have to be the judge of the actual exertion level of your workouts and what you really need. In general, however, it’s best to eat your snack not too long before a workout, along with eating healthfully throughout the day.

What Muscles Constitute A Flat Stomach
The core isnt one muscle its a relationship between a number of muscles that cover your whole trunk, connecting your hips, spine, neck and shoulders, explains performance coach Brett Klika. The rectus abdominis, or six-pack muscles, are only part of it.
So, half-hearted bicycle crunches and other stomach exercises, stomach workouts and belly workouts you’ve been doing before bed are actually leaving much of your core out of the picture. Not to mention they’re potentially slowing down your progress, as well as being an unsafe way to train. Aim for variety in your exercise and strength gains will follow. Trust us.

Why Am I Gaining Fat While Lifting Weights
Weight training can cause weight gain due to an increase in muscle mass. If you strength train regularly and improve your fitness level, your weight on the scale may increase while your body fat percentage decreases. Muscle is denser than fat and takes up more space. This switch in body composition happens over months.

You Already Have Abs You Just Cant See Them
The âget absâ and âtarget belly fatâ industry is booming.
Whatever the product, workout, or service is, they are trying to sell you quick fixes for a flat stomach that will not get you a flat stomach quickly. That is, unless you also make another BIG change, which is what Saint from the NF community focused on to get to the above results , but Iâll get to that shortly!
Here are the things you need to know moving forward:
Everybody has abdominal muscles. Yep, even you! They might be tiny, or weak, but everybody has 6-pack abs. They are just hidden under a layer of fat. Depending on how big you are, your strong abs could be buried under a lot of fat. No judgment, just reality.
Fat does NOT turn into muscle they are two different things. Like oil and water, fat sits on top of muscle. You could have ridiculously strong abs ready to pop out, but if they are buried under a lot of fat, no amount of exercise will give you a flat stomach or make those abs pop, because it doesnt address the fat on top of your muscles.
A flat stomach only appears when you have a low enough bodyfat percentage. The reason there are 1,000,000,000 ab workouts on YouTube is because people know thereâs BIG money in the ab-industry for people desperate to get a flat stomach! And ab exercises are much easier to market as exciting than âeat better, get strong, move more, for a long long time.â
Why? Because

- âOne weird trick scientists hate to banish belly fat foreverâ
- âEat this super food to target belly fat and get toned!â
- â7 minute abs. Who the hell has time for 8-minute abs?â
I have no product to sell you. Instead, Im going to give you the ACTUAL truth about about 6-pack abs, targeting belly fat, and how to get a flat stomach.

Do Ab Workouts Help You Get A Flat Stomach
Don’t fall for the infomercial messages that promise to shrink your tummy and get you a six-pack when you use their exercise system. Spot reduction is simply not possible. Ab workouts help strengthen the muscles at the front of the trunk, but they do not lead to fat loss around your midsection that covers these muscles and gives you a pooch. Overall weight loss can help shrink your middle, but how effectively depends on your genetics, gender and age.

Want A Flatter Stomach Do These 4 Exercises Every Morning Trainer Says
Many of my clients come to me with a common fitness goal: They want to lose fat, build muscle, and get a flatter stomach.
In order to get a flatter stomach, you have to be doing the right things consistently: Strength training, eating at a calorie deficit, and getting in your daily steps. If you don’t do any of those things, then you’re not going to slim down your waistlineno matter how many crunches, situps, and side bends you perform.
Also, a mistake that many people make with ab training is performing weighted movements. Your abdominal area, just like your other muscles, can actually hypertrophy when you add extra resistance. So, if your goal is to achieve a flatter stomach, then you need to minimize the amount of ab moves you’re doing that involve weights.
Instead, the key to getting a flatter stomach is focusing on ab exercises that work on building core strength and stability. Here are four easy movements you can start doing every morning in order to achieve a flatter, more toned stomach. Make sure to perform this circuit 3-4 times through. What Happens If You Plank Everyday For A Month
It’s simple, effective, and requires no equipment and barely any space. Plus, as long as your form is correct keeping your back straight and glutes squeezed the plank can develop core strength which, according to Harvard University, leads to good posture, less back pain, and better balance and stability.
Is My Workout Well
In order to get flat abs, you need to burn fat by exercising your entire body and eating fewer calories. Also, since weight loss happens all over the body, you need to keep your workouts balanced. Spot reduction is a myth no matter how much you work your abs, you won’t get a flat belly unless you lose fat everywhere.
Varying your workouts, including scheduling rest days for your abs, is the best way to ensure your workouts are well-rounded.

Moves For Your Best Belly
A regular yoga practice that flows and then holds abdominal-strengthening poses, such as Boat or Plank, helps you de-stress, stretch out and contribute to a flatter tum. You might alternatively seek out Pilates, which emphasizes the entirety of the core â the area from your hips to your shoulders â and helps flatten and strengthen your abs.
When these types of classes aren’t an option, adopt some flat-belly moves on your own to achieve your goals. These exercises are easy on the joints, which could be feeling their age, but are still extremely effective.

Simple Exercises To Flatten Your Belly
Belly fat is not only unattractive but can also be worse for your health than overall obesity!
Many studies have found that abdominal fat is particularly damaging. It increases the risk for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, certain cancers and even mortality.
A 2015 study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine reports that normal-weight central obesity defined by the waist-to-hip ratio is associated with higher mortality than obesity defined by body mass index , particularly in the absence of central fat distribution.
Belly fat can be stubborn and hard to get rid of. Much like any overall weight loss plan, two factors are key to flattening your tummy diet and exercise.
Diet is very important. Pay attention to portion size. Eat more lean protein. Stick to complex carbohydrates like whole grains, fruits and vegetables, instead of simple carbohydrates like white bread, refined-grain pasta and sugary drinks. Replace saturated and trans fats with polyunsaturated fats in your diet.
Exercise burns calories and boosts your metabolism to help you lose weight. Also, certain moderate-intensity and strength-training exercises are particularly effective at fighting abdominal fat.
Many of the exercises require lying on the floor. Using an exercise or yoga mat is a good idea. Doing them on a hard floor will take a toll on your back.
Here are 10 simple exercises that will help flatten your belly.

What Is The Best Exercise To Burn Belly Fat
Let’s get one thing straight, right away. You can’t spot reduce belly fat when you lose body fat, you’ll lose it from all over, not one specific place. Similarly, no one exercise is going to torch stomach fat specifically. Your diet, stress levels and sleep play just as important role in your body being able to effectively lose fat.
Regular movement, including these exercises, will keep your body strong, build muscle and burn calories all-important building blocks in losing fat. The old adage is true though: you can’t out-exercise a bad diet, so be mindful about how you’re fuelling your fat loss too.
Tarik Belalij, personal trainer and nutritionist at Everyone Active Leisure Centre suggests focusing on the following food groups:
- Nutrient-rich vegetables: kale, spinach, collard greens
- Lean protein: turkey, chicken or tofu
- Unprocessed carbohydrates: potatoes, bananas, rice and quinoa

Be Patient And Stick With It
Achieving a flat stomach takes time. Go in with a long-term outlook. “Going for the immediately perfect result is unrealistic and, when you fail, you will likely quit,” says Quebbemann.
Instead, commit to these lifestyle changes for a period of several weeks or months and enlist the support of a friend who can help hold you accountable.
How Can I Get A Flat Stomach Or Make My Stomach Flatter
First off, if you’re looking to make strength gains you probably don’t want a flat stomach. Strong abdominals if your body fat is low enough have a naturally muscular look.
However, and this is an important point to make strengthening your stomach muscles alone won’t help you achieve the strong and lean aesthetic you’re after.
That comes down to lowering your body fat percentage to a point where abdominal muscles are visible that’s between 14 24% for women. However, common thinking suggests that most women should not dip below 18% body fat, at the risk of interfering with their hormones.
Also, if abs come at the cost of your mental health or you find yourself feeling preoccupied with fat loss, take a step back and ease off for a little while. Fuelling your body well with regular exercise, enough sleep and minimising stress is far more important than any body fat percentile.

Perfect Posture = Flat Tummy: 6 Tips
1. Stand up straight. Heeding Mom’s advice can make you look 5 pounds thinner instantly. To straighten up, imagine a string tugging you from the top of your head toward the ceiling.
2. Sit like a royal. Slumping accentuates your stomach. To improve your posture while sitting, start with your chair. If your chair seat is too high to let your feet touch the ground without slumping, find a footstool about 4 inches high to let you sit up straight. Or place a pillow at the small of your back to help bring you forward in your chair.
3. Strengthen your shoulders. Strong shoulders will prevent you from hunching forward. To target this area, try the overhead press. Start with dumbbells at shoulder height, feet firmly on the floor. Slowly press the dumbbells straight up until your arms are fully extended. Don’t arch your back. Hold, and then lower.
4. Build your chest. Good posture is easier when you have strong upper body muscles. For the chest, do the bench press: Lie on an exercise bench with your knees bent, feet flat on the floor or on the bench. Hold dumbbells or a barbell at chest height with your hands slightly more than shoulder-width apart. Slowly press the weight straight up until your arms are fully extended, elbows almost locked. Hold, and then lower.

Why Is A Strong Core So Important
As mentioned, it pays to look beyond aesthetics and the idea of a ‘flat stomach’ when building up core strength it’s also a crucial factor in maintaining good overall health and mobility of your body. Some of the strongest people in the world dont have six-packs, but they can lift a lot or perform tremendous feats of athleticism, describes Klika.
A strong core is a major factor in staying free from injury particularly in the hips and knees, says Michelle Arent, director of training and conditioning at Rutgers Center for Health and Human Performance in the US.
However, and this is important, the core is more than the muscles running alongside the front of your stomach. In fact, the core itself is a 3-dimensional ‘box’ shape that includes:
- Your abdominals
- Your glutes
- Your lower back muscles
So, when we talk about building a strong core, we’re actually talking about building a strong ‘trunk’. Capice?
